Kona Fishing Report August 16, 2021 – The Yellowfin Tuna Bite Continues

Kona Fishing Report
Published on Aug 16, 2021

One of our regular clients, Doug Schultz, joined us today for a 6-hour fishing charter in Kona. Doug wanted to catch some fish to eat so we went looking for the Tunas that have been reliably showing up here in Kona the past few weeks. The best season in Kona for catching Yellowfin Tuna, otherwise called by their Hawaiian name Ahi, is June through September. Over the past few weeks, the Tuna fishing has been very good, and if you scroll down through our fishing reports you will see we have put clients on several nice catches. Doug was able to connect with nice Ahi on his morning charter as well a mixed bag of bottom fish to enjoy for dinner.

In addition to the good Ahi Bite the past few weeks, the marlin fishing has been better than average. The tides and water conditions have been very favorable as well. If you are planning to head to the Big Island in the near future, and want to enjoy a day fishing in Kona, be sure to book your fishing charters early. Demand is very high right now and our most popular charters book up fast, so check our current availability on our website and book online for our lowest available rates.

Hope to see you in Kona soon.
Aloha,
