October 2015 Deep Sea Fishing in Hawaii Report

Kona Fishing Report – October 21, 2015 – The Big Island of Hawaii – The Super El Nino of 2015 still seems to be lingering, keeping water temperatures unseasonably warm, and the warm waters continue to hold good numbers of Blue Marlin just off of the Kona Coast.  While most of the tourists have headed out of town, the Blue Marlin, Tuna and even the occasional spearfish continue to hang around in better than average numbers.  On Tuesday 10/20/15 we went 1 for 4 on Blue Marlin on a 3/4 day charter.  More than plenty of action to call it a great 6-hour trip.  On average, we have been getting at least one shot a trip and usually multiple shots at small blue marlin or Yellowfin Tuna.  Most of the bites are coming around a tide change.  The next 7-10 days should be really good as we are on the building side of the moon until the 27th of the month when we see the next full moon.  This combined with building tides through the morning and early afternoon fishing times and the conditions remain good in the next week for consistent fishing.  Be sure and check out our kona tide chart and moon phase chart on our website.

If you are planning on coming to Kona for the Holiday season, be sure to plan ahead and book your fishing charters early.  We are already booking a number of trips around Christmas week and Thanksgiving, so plan ahead and get our best rates by booking right on our website.  Check availability for your preferred dates on the calendar below.

Also, we just posted all of the 2016 Kona Fishing Tournament Dates on our Tournaments page.  The first event is just a few months away, on January 1st when the Annual Charters Desk New Year’s Day Tournament happens.  If you are planning on being in Kona and fishing around that time, the entry fee is very low for this tournament and it’s a fun event for the whole family.

Kona Fishing Report August 11, 2021 – Nice Ono on an Afternoon Fishing Charter

Probably one of the best things about fishing in Kona is the fact you can catch any number of species on any given day within a few minutes of leaving the slip. Because of this, even on a 4-hour afternoon fishing charter, it is possible to catch a giant blue marlin or just something delicious to throw on the grill for dinner.
